Color Mutations

Natural or Standard colored chinchillas is the original colored chinchilla.  Since they were first brought to the United States in the early 1900's the color variations of these little creatures has become quite large.  From White to Violet and Black to Sapphire, they can be found in almost anyone's favorite color.  There are rarely any differences in health issues due to the color of the animal, but as a breeder, there are certain No No's when breeding one color mutation to another.  For more information concerning this, please refer to the Color Genetics page.
